Why These Books?

While looking at books to submit for this assignment, I felt that it was most appropriate that I accessed my actual read and to-be-read list. Each book I chose highlights different aspects of myself. The Death of Mrs. Westaway looks at my curiosity and desire to solve puzzles and challenges. I love this genre because it's a race to figure out who it was before the end (and I usually am right). I chose the Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes because I feel strongly about media and how important information can and is censored and how important it is to educate yourself. The last book I chose for my read section is Atomic Habits. I chose this because I struggle to make new habits. I loved this book because it taught me to find little ways to make big tasks easier. That has made a ton of difference in my school, personal-life, and work.

For my in-progress, I chose The Woman in Cabin 10. I chose this because she is constantly questioning herself as she goes. She knows she saw a murder, but there's no one missing on the ship. I constantly question myself and wonder if I am doing the right thing or making the right decision. She kept pushing and discovered she was right, which is what I trust myself to do.

My to-read books were chosen because they are topics I am interested in learning more about. How to Work With (Almost) Everyone I look forward to reading because I do struggle to communicate with my coworkers sometimes and I would like that to improve. Because I am autistic, I learn social skills this way. Hopefully this will make things easier for me in this and future jobs! Lastly, I chose The Wager because I currently work in law enforcement. The ways people behave when pushed to the brink is very interesting to me. In addition, I simply love a good shipwreck story. I try to read non-fiction books occasionally so I can learn about either the past or something useful like social skills!
